But, with the release of Aamir Khan starrer Three Idiots smashed Avatar out of the park. Three Idiots released on the Christmas Eve 25th December 2009. 3 Idiots has shattered many records, and has grossed $ 21 million in four days across the globe. Aamir Khan proves yet again why he is such a prized possession in Bollywood. The Mr Perfectionist always puts in a lot into his movies and that’s why Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa and Ghajini have been praised and did well at the box-office.
Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama “3 Idiots” has created a record by grossing over Rs.100 crore in its first four days. Reliance BIG Entertainment, distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.

Avatar has become the most successful Hollywood movie of all time in India and will soon smash everything out of the park. You are talking about $21 million. I predict ‘Avatar’ will rake in $2.1 billion when it ends its screening, clearly a 100 times more than the idiotic 3 idiots. By the way, the scene where Amir Khan throws the examination papers into the air so the professor doesn’t fail them, that scene is copied directly from an English movie.
