ThanksMaa is a Hindi Bollywood film directed by Débutante director Irfan Kamal, written by VishalVijayKumar and IrfanKamal, produced by Quantum Films, and starring MasterShamsPatel, MasterSalman, MasterFayaaz, BabyAlmas, MasterJaffer, BabySakshi, BarryJohn. Thanks ma- The debut child actor Master Shams Patel has also won the Best Child Artistfor the film, in the 56th National Film Awards. This film focuses on Child abandonment Issue in India.Thanksma starts with a 12 year old street kid named MUNICIPALITY,while on the run from the reformatory, finds and saves a two day old abandoned child from being prey to a ferocious dog. Failing to find any takers among the people he deemed responsible & respectable, Municipality takes up the onus of finding the child’s mother himself. Here onwards ensues his struggle in the urban jungle of Mumbai with just 4 of his friends from the streets- Soda,Sursuri,Cutting & Dhed-shaana.Municipality’s rock steady determination ultimately helps him emerge a winner against all odds as he reaches the child’s mother. Though in the bargain, he loses his flawless & God like image of a mother he used to see in his dreams.

A mother who he hoped,would come searching for him someday at the Municipality Hospital where he was abandoned 12 yrs back.The film aims at highlighting the issue of abandoned children and the misery they face in heir day to day lives.

Irfan Kamal’s “Thanks Maa” takes you back to the streets of Mumbai. Thanks Maa alomost looks like but Slumdog Millionaire but not exactly it is. Shams leads the film as a hero.Shams comes across an abandoned baby and takes up the responsibility of taking that baby to it’s mother.ThanksMaa film begins by showing us the world of the children – realistic, engaging, the second half is givesyou more interest to watch as Shams and the baby finding their way through challenges and dangers.Finally Municipality and his friends do such a brilliant job at emoting anyway. Overall, many may not show that much interest in watching this movie, but its a type of film which make you realize that you born lucky and one can say Thanks Maa to your Ma, one can watch atleast once in a time.
