There are high expectations from ‘Kites’ as after ’3 Idiots’ this will be the biggest release. 3Idiots is a 2009 Bollywood comedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. ThreeIdiots stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, Omi Vaidya, Parikshit Sahni and Boman Irani.Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and has the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. 3Ediots grossed Rs 410 crore (US$ 90.5 million) worldwide. While Kytes directed by Anurag Basu, and produced by Rakesh Roshan that will star Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, and Kabir Bedi. The film is scheduled for release on 21 May 2010. The film is expected to be a Blockbuster from all the hype and with no major release for the next two weeks after it’s release.

The story line and context were different. Kites will never be able to score the magic weaved by ’3 idiots’. 3 idiots was a film in which people could relate to, and fully in Indian context, Indian parent’s wishes and anguish for their children’s future, the pressure through which the students pass through to score more marks than enjoy learning with peaceful mind, also they had to struggle a lot to convince their parents. And in the end if they achieve success, they are appreciated else ???? It was the story of lives at our homes, and around us. Whereas Kites is an intercontinental love story. Few in masses would gel with it. So I don’t think Kites will be able to cross the turn over & magic ’3 idiots’ created. Of course music, lead pair etc seems good
