On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Deepika Padukone posted on Twitter wishing Teachers Day. The tweet went on to receive over 490 retweets and 250 favorites. She also became one of the trending topics on Twitter, just minutes later.

The media managers even reported Deepika’s conversation with one of her friends. How Deepika’s parents were the first teachers in her life and how their principles taught her valuable life lessons. It was even reported that she went on to talk about several people who made an impression on her and left an indelible mark on her life? However, the names of those several people were not reported by PR managers of Deepika. Billi and her friends are curious and would love to know – who are those so called friends?
While it is great to know about the celebrities talking about teachers. But apart from the lip service are they doing anything concrete to give back to the people who have laid the foundation of their life? It would have been better if she spent her day with some ex teachers of hers at the school she went (or at any schools with dedicated teachers). Otherwise I see no difference between a whiskey brand using Teachers name to sell their product and in Deepika Padukone tweeting on Teachers.
