Yash Chopra the Bollywood’s ‘king of romance’ who was the director of SRK starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan is no more and brings of an end of romantic era, Yashji who delivered some fantabulous romantic films like Darr (1993), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Veer-Zaara (2004) and his final film yet to be released this Diwali Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) took his last breath on Sunday evening at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, filmmaker YashChopra, will be cremated on Monday afternoon. Sources buzz that from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, people can visit Yash Raj Films studio in suburban Andheri to pay their condolences.
He (Chopra) was in the ICU will be cremated at 3 p.m.at Chandan Wadi. YashChopra was getting treatment Lilavati Hospital since October 13 after he was diagnosed with dengue. The 80-year-old director died today following multi-organ failure.
Yash Chopra came up with some of the masterpieces of love epics and his career spanned over five decades with more than 50 films under his belt. Yashji facing illness, the director handed over the job to his son Aditya Chopra to shoot few last portions of the film. Celebrities including Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, visited the hospital to pay their last respect to the legendary director.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is heard saying described Chopra as an “icon of Indian cinema” who entertained decades with his rare creativity.
