Jab Tak Hai Jaan movie Review – 2012′s eagerly awaited Bollywood romantic movie Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma is finally playing in the theaters.
Yash Chopra passed away Oct 21 after being diagnosed with dengue. ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ was supposed to be his last film. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif together at London’s Charing Cross station waiting to catch a train home and a little romantic chat was just awesome King Khan delivers all his experiences who has turned guru with a bag of magical career spanning over two decades. SRK back inform and perhaps be the best role he has ever played. Yash Chopra, the director of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, was the king of old world romances that were full of plot, moments of conflict and impetuous charm. But this time around perhaps he failed measure the depth of love in the 21st century and in the process significant and generalized it to a crawl-worthy model.
Shah Rukh goes through two complex roles, he’s paired with Katrina, one of the beauties in cinema at the moment. It’s awkward stuff from Chopra, could have made it suitable to the present generation since he shot a a series of odd kisses captured mostly in long shots and covered up with hair falling over the face of the couple are the only moments of romance between Shah Rukh and Katrina. It looked like watching an old romantic movie with slow moves of the couple, Shah Rukh, who keeps both actresses short of winning a brilliant performance, unfortunately not so good in romantic with Katrina.
It could have been more decent had SRK been paired with someone near to his age, such as Kajol. Devika Bhagat and Aditya Chopra’s screenplay manages to put out some beautiful romantic moments. Aditya Chopra has written some really exceptional dialogues. Story is just OK. While the love, romance and typical beautiful feeling are amazingly conveyed. The film is terribly long. The best efforts of SRK in the movie is when he has joined the army. As lover boy Samar, he’s just easily played it.
Katrina Kaif looked good as Meera but falls short in quite a few places. Anushka Sharma is vivacious and your heart searches for Akira. Neetu and Rishi Kapoor are fine in their guest appearance. Anupam Kher has very little to do as Meera’s father. The phenomenal Ladakh, Kashmir and London attest Anil Mehta’s cinematography. Rahman’s music is Nice. All in all, a one time watch movie.
Rating: Good – 3/5.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan movie Story
Anushka Sharma played as Akira bubbly student out for a project in Ladakh when she picks upon the story of Indian army’s bomb disposal officer Samar played by SRK and decides to make a documentary on him: The Man Who Cannot Die. The story takes you to the past as we learn about Samar’s lost love.
A hard working guy in London, a chance meeting with the rich lass Meera (Katrina Kaif) changes both their lives. While Meera wants Punjabi singing lessons from him, Samar changes it for English lessons from her. Soon, the two fall in love, though Meera is married to someone else.
On the flip side of the timeline, Samar is now a tough, reticent army officer who doesn’t even bother with a bomb suit while defusing explosives. Akira gets close to Samar and even he thaws a bit. But why did Samar and Meera part ways? Watch out the movie in the theater.
