PLOT

Aladdin Chatterjee (Riteish Deshmukh) lives in the fictional city of Khwaish, an orphan who is bullied by Kasim and his gang members since his childhood. But his life changes when Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandez) gives him a magic lamp – because it lets loose the genie Genius (Amitabh Bachchan). Desperate to grant him three wishes and to seek the end of his contract with the magic lamp, the rock-star Genius makes Aladin’s life difficult until the real threat looms on the horizon – the ex-genie, Ring Master (Sanjay Dutt).

REVIEW

Aladin movie has no violence, nudity or obscenity in the film. This film always meant to be a family film and the vision of the team maintains from Day one.Even though the basic essence of Aladin comes from the children’s tales that they have heard for decades, the narration has been good to gain enough attention from adults as well.

Aladin starts with a bang,but no sooner does the genie appears, he breaks into a song. Sure, there’re some interesting moments, but you can actually count those sequences.The problem is not with the story, but the screenplay (also penned by Sujoy Ghosh).Sujoy Ghosh’s screenplay is bad, where Aladin comes across as a feeble clone of a poor Hollywood film.

The visual effects are excellent at places & cinematography is top notch. Vishal-Shekhar’s music is strictly fine. New comer, Miss Srilanka, Jacqueline Fernandez gets no scope, but she looks gorgeous nonetheless. Amitabh always great.Sanjay Dutt has two standard expressions from start to end.

Overall, Hugely disappointing!

Magical music duo Vishal and Shekhar, who also worked on “Dostana,” are behind the soundtrack for this project that stars Ritesh Deshmukh as Aladin and Miss Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Fernandes, as his bride Jasmine.
