Chintu Ji Pre-release Review
If you thought you had enough of village-based movies with ‘Billoo’ and ‘Kissan’ doing not-so-good in the theatres, here’s another flick, set against a village backdrop, to try its luck on Filmy Friday!! Director Ranjit Kapoor’s ‘Chintu Ji’ has been produced by Kaleidoscope Entertainment and is set for a release on September 4. With the likes of Rishi Kapoor, Kulraj Randhawa, Saurabh Shukla, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Sophie Choudhary in its star cast, the movie looks interesting and dramatic. The music of the film has been given by Sukhwinder Singh and Siddharth-Suhas.
Coming to the narrative of the movie, Chintu Ji is primarily based on a small, but beautiful village/town, Hadbahedi. The village is in constant contest and rivalry with its neighboring town, Triphla. While honesty and integrity define the village of Hadbahedi, Triphla is a place of corruption and bribery. Feeling dejected and disheartened by the neglect meted out by the state government, Hadbahedians seek an identity under Arun Bakshi’s (Priyanshu Chatterjee) leadership. It is then that Arun discovers that Rishi/Chintu Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor) was actually born in their village, 55 years back. To get the limelight and attention, the villagers send an invite to the one-time superstar.
Chintu Kapoor, on the other hand, is looking forward to a future as a politician, to make a comeback. Upon receiving the invitation, he immediately agrees, thinking that Hadbahedi might just provide him with a constituency. Along with Devika Malhotra (Kulraj Randhawa), Chintu comes to Hadbahedi. However, the star-attitude, coupled with tantrums, get better off him, as Chintu becomes nothing more than a nuisance. An accident worsens the matters, as Chintu is forced to extend his stay. Devika, however, makes up for his tantrums, as she gels with the people of Hadbahedi, especially Arun. While cupid is striking the two, Chintu gets allured by the tempting monetary and political offer made by Triphla.
Meanwhile, Malkhani, a producer comes to the scene, looking forward to complete his film, featuring Chintu, in Hadbahedi. As the movie unfolds, Arun’s distressing past starts to haunt him. To make matter worse, a person from his past comes to the village. Amidst all such happenings, the main reason behind calling the ace actor gets fulfilled, as the town starts getting media attention. As affluence and richness step in the village, they bring with them a lot of urban vices as well. In the meantime, Arun witnesses the secret meeting of Chintu with Triphla, but does not speak ill of Chintu. Moved by this gesture, Devika leaves her boss and teams up with Arun and the Hadbahedians.
Now, with Rishi and the tempting offer from Triphla on one side and Arun, Devika and the Hadbahedians on the other side, the question is who is going to win the situation? What is Arun’s past that is bothering him so much? Why did he come to Hadbahedi six years back? The answer will come to the fore, with the release of Chintu Ji. So, gear yourself for moments of pleasure, coupled with a jiffy of laughter and dollops of smile, all the ingredients that are is sure to set the stage for a rolling comedy. Hope this flick has a box office climax better than its counterparts.
